OBX Beach & Weather does not display third-party advertising and does not sell personal information.
Information the app uses
The app retrieves weather, forecast, Beach Score, ocean-safety, surf, tide, water-temperature, alert, history, and related information over encrypted network connections. Requests necessarily include ordinary Internet connection information such as IP address, timestamps, and technical request details.
Preferences stored on your device
Your selected beach, unit choices, widget preferences, notification preferences, cached weather responses, and similar settings may be stored locally on your device so the app can work smoothly and continue to show recent information when a network request is unavailable.
Location
The app is organized around user-selected Outer Banks communities. The native Android app does not request precise or approximate Android location permission for normal operation. Where a platform or browser feature offers device-location selection, it is controlled by that platform's permission system. Third-party Internet services may infer an approximate location from an IP address.
Live beach cam / YouTube
The Surf Cam uses an embedded YouTube player. When you open or use that player, YouTube/Google may receive technical information such as IP-derived approximate location, interactions with the player, diagnostics, cookies or similar browser/device identifiers, and other information described in Google's privacy policies. OBX Beach & Weather does not receive a YouTube account password or maintain a profile of your YouTube activity.
Widgets, background refresh & notifications
Widgets and background refresh use device features to update locally displayed OBX Beach & Weather information. Notification preferences are stored on the device. The app may periodically retrieve current alert and weather information in the background subject to operating-system controls.
Analytics, advertising & tracking
The native OBX Beach & Weather app does not include an OBX advertising network, behavioral advertising SDK, or OBX user-account analytics profile. Embedded third-party content, including YouTube, may process usage and technical data under the third party's own terms and privacy practices.
Retention & deletion
OBX Beach & Weather does not maintain a server-side user account or personal user profile for the app. Locally stored app preferences and cached data can be removed using your device's app-data controls or by uninstalling the app. Data processed independently by third-party services is subject to those services' own retention and deletion policies.
Security
Production weather and app-data requests use HTTPS. No Internet service can be guaranteed completely secure, but the app is designed to use encrypted transport for its production data connections.
Children
The app is a general weather and beach-information service and is not designed to collect personal information from children or to provide child-specific accounts or social features.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as app features, providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current published version.
